FEBRUARY EDITION OF STAFF ASSEMBLY HELD WEDNESDAY, 28TH FEBRUARY , 2024.

❤ The February edition of the staff forum was an exciting one, hosted by the February celebrants with lots of fun games, learning time and gift items.

❤The masters of the ceremony were (Mr. O. A. Osisanya of the Finance & Account Departments and Mr. Tobe of the Pharmacy Department). The event began at 1:00pm

❤ The welcome address was given by the Head of Admin & HR; she welcomed all members of staff and enjoined them to have a great time.

❤ H.M.C. Policies was anchored by the Apex Nurse. She stated the various issues addressed in the last HMC meeting and enjoined members of staff to adhere to every instruction.

❣ Dress Code: All members of staff are expected to be professionally dressed with proper covered shoes.

❣ Communication: Proper communication should be ensured during patient’s waiting time which shows professionalism.

❣ SPADEV: She also enjoined members of staff to fill their SPADEV form accordingly to ensure a seamless promotion exercise.

❤ Quality Improvement Team: The Chairman of the Quality Improvement Committee introduced INCIDENT FORM to members of staff. She informed that the essence is to create a safety culture. Continuing, she stated that the forms will be made available in all departments. In cases of assault, food poisoning and other occurrences, the forms should be filled. This is to help analyze the frequent occurrences of incidents in the hospital.

❤ Meeting Targets for Quality Healthcare Delivery– Presented by Dr. O. M. Omololu
❣The Medical Director stated the importance of having set goals and one which cannot be overemphasized is the direction it gives an organization.
❣An analysis report was gotten from the patient’s satisfactory survey in the year 2023 which showed the percentage scores of each department. The breakdown of the analysis showed that there is room for improvement and increase in scores.
❣The target for the year 2024 is 75% for each department.
❣ Complaint Mechanism: He further reminded everyone of the practice of ‘Management By All’ and stated that everyone should be able to attend to every patient through the complaint mechanism.
❣ In conclusion, he urged everyone to work as a team to achieve the various departmental and committee targets that have been set for the year.

❤ Games: Different rounds of exciting games including brain teasers were played and participants were rewarded with amazing gifts.

❤ Medical Director’s briefing
The Medical Director enjoined members of staff to applaud the February celebrants being a part of the celebrants.
The February Celebrants had a beautiful choreography dance that got the audience entertained.
The MD informed members of staff that there has been power challenge, IPP has been off and Eko electricity has not been consistent.
Water Issues: He further informed that the hospital is trying to do another bore-hole and everything should be sorted by next month. He urged members of staff to support patients during this period.

❤ Birthday Celebrants for February, 2024
The birthday celebrants for the month of February were celebrated with the cutting of cake.
Cake presentation was also done by the Head of Admin & HR on behalf of the management to landmark celebrants.

❤ Unveiling of the Best Worker of the Month
Best workers and nominees for Junior and Senior categories as well as the management for the month were unveiled and celebrated.

The foundation stone of the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital was laid by Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Gloucester on the 13th of May, 1959. The Hospital was formally declared open by Lady Robertson, wife of the then Governor-General of the Federation of Nigeria on the 20th July, 1960.
