Lagos Island Maternity Hospital Holds Staff Forum For March 2024

The Staff Forum for March 2024 by the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, has taken place, with birthday celebrants for the month, members of staff, HODs and Directors, including the Medical Director/CEO of the hospital in attendance.

The event was held inside the Dr Solanke Conference Room of the hospital.featured activities and games like’How well do you know your HODs/HMC, Affirmation Cards for Celebrants, Cups and table tennis eggs, Pick a number and Fast – Fingers’.

Other activities include Birthday Cake – cutting, Landmark/Golden Jubilee for Celebrants and Special Recognition for a March Retiree, Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Yinusa Magaret

In the ‘Brief Talk ‘for the day, Dr Oduniyi Anwoju enjoined members of staff to embrace positive growth mindset, to always aspire to improve on themselves, move from one level to another and shun fixed mindset which discourages growth.

Speaking on the topic, “Growth Mindset,” with the theme: ‘Appreciating the effectiveness of positive mindset to Corporate and Personal Growth and Development’, Dr Anwoju gave practical experiences to buttress his point. He said a growth mindset concerns everybody as it is important to “make that move” towards achieving more in life, adding “we should “allow growth mindset to be our second bible. “

On his part, the Medical Director, Dr Olufemi Omololu, admitted the month has been very good for LIMH, as things were calm and progressing very well.

He said staff “should continue learning new things, and always apply the habit of growth mindset, most especially that culture of working as family which makes things better, and standing LIMH out”, among others.

He, however, appealed to each department to meet the set target, as the Patient Satisfaction Survey will roll out in two weeks to ascertain which Department meets the set standard of 75 per cent pass mark.

Earlier, the Head of Admin. & Human Resources, representative in the person of Mr. Olamilekan Ibraheem welcomed everybody to the event and informed them on activities that took place in the month of March. He appealed to them to always participate in hospital’s programmes as they present opportunity for staff to examine themselves medically towards safe health.

On Hospital Management Policies, Apex, Mrs Oluwatoyin Champion, represented, spoke on punctuality on duty, as monitoring team goes around for verification, compulsory use of name tags and positive responses to patients and relatives whenever they seek help and assistance.

Pharmacist Ladigbolu appealed to Departments to up their performances towards quality service delivery.

Highlights of the day was the unveiling of the Best Worker of the Month, by Mrs Funmi Titus, which was won by Dr Adenrele Abimbola Lawal, Senior Medical Officer (Anaesthetic), Senior Category and Mrs Adenike Mary Mosanya, (Head Cook) Junior Category, respectively.

The vote of thanks at the event, where everyone in attendance won one gift or another, was rendered by one of the celebrants, HOD, Social Welfare, Mrs Mary Olayemi.

The foundation stone of the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital was laid by Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Gloucester on the 13th of May, 1959. The Hospital was formally declared open by Lady Robertson, wife of the then Governor-General of the Federation of Nigeria on the 20th July, 1960.
